Our Gentle Journey
Believing in the Magic of Small Things
Hug My Town grew from a simple belief I've carried my whole life — that people are more alike than different, and that every living thing deserves a place where it feels safe, seen, and at home. A place where it belongs. During a difficult season caring for my mom while she was ill, I began noticing how many others in our town were quietly struggling too. I wished there was a way to help, even in small ways — a way to remind people they weren't alone, a way to make our community feel softer. So I started with what I had: a small, heavy glass jar of change by the studio door. People could share what they could, and take what they needed. It wasn't much, but it was a beginning — a tiny spark of connection. From there, Hug My Town began to bloom. We created interactive art projects with our community — murals, kindness boards, shared canvases — moments where people could paint, write, or simply show up. These projects were written about in the local newspaper, not because they were grand, but because they reminded people of something simple and important: kindness is contagious. Bloom grew from those projects too — a gentle way to lift each other up through creativity, presence, and small acts of care. Every flower painted, every note written, every shared moment became part of a larger story. Hug My Town exists because small things matter. Because art can open hearts. Because kindness can ripple through a neighborhood. Because community is built piece by piece, person by person, moment by moment. This movement is here to help our towns, people and all life here feel hugged again — to remind us that Earth is our shared home, that every creature and every person belongs, and that together, we can make our communities bloom.
The Hug My Town Story
Every Soft Ripple Counts
What started as a single glass jar on a kitchen counter has blossomed into a global hug. We gathered spare coins—but more importantly, we gathered hope. We realized that local communities thrive not when they are built with rigid stone, but when they are wrapped in warmth and mutual care.
- Nurturing local growth, one gentle hand at a time
- Fostering spaces where everyone feels safely held
- Spreading quiet ripples of watercolor warmth
Why Hug My Town Exists
Hug My Town began with a simple belief I’ve carried my whole life — that people are more alike than different, and that every living thing deserves a place where it feels safe, seen, and at home. A place where it belongs.
It started with a small, heavy glass jar of change placed by the door where people could share what they could, flowers on a neighbor's porch, and randomly to strangers in grocery stores a gentle reminder that we are never truly alone. And small local interactive art projects. This simple, anonymous gesture of warmth and protection, and these small art projects soon blossomed into a community. By planting tiny seeds of kindness, art, and true presence, we create a sanctuary of belonging — piece by piece, heart by heart.
The Hug My Town Initiative
Every small community holds a universe of quiet stories, warm greetings, and deep roots. Through our shared watercolor canvas, we are wrapping our global community in a gentle embrace—one neighborhood at a time. More stories and community chapters are blossoming here soon.
The Watercolor Heart of Our Community
This heart-shaped Earth, tenderly wrapped in hugging arms and dotted with cozy neighborhood houses, is more than an illustration—it is the guiding symbol of our connection. In a world that can sometimes feel distant, this watercolor globe represents our commitment to drawing closer. By merging art with small, meaningful gestures, we remind each neighbor that they belong to a larger, kinder whole. Every brushstroke is an invitation to share comfort, bridge gaps, and foster genuine warmth and connection where it matters most: right here at home.
